Ethiopia - Halo Beriti | Mixed Berries, Violet & Red Apple | For Espresso
Meet Halo Beriti, our newest Ethiopian espresso.
Ethiopian coffee is a firm favourite for us, the rich, fruit forward flavours and delicate aromatics we've found in them are qualities we always chase. Our Halo Beriti espresso, a naturally fermented, heirloom coffee, has them in abundance. Selected and roasted by Roasted Brown specifically for espresso, during cupping we picked up on ripe mixed berries, violet and crisp red apple. (An almost perfect reflection of the seasonal fruit we're enjoying at the moment.)
This microlot espresso is the produce of farmsteads in Lalesa and Gedeb in the Gedeo Zone of Ethiopia, with it's processing overseen by Ephtah Speciality Coffee. Ephtah was founded by Wubit Bekele and is centred around sustainability and creating a collaborative supply chain while also being female founded and focused, offering female employees opportunities and parity that is often inaccessible to them in local industries.
The organisation works to provide farmers with ways to grow or better their production, whether through means such as pre-finance, improvement projects or even donating drying beds. These efforts are just some of the ways which Ephtah works with local farmers to raise the quality of their produce and the region's reputation as a whole.
Try it for yourself and you'll see why we're always excited when we find a coffee like Halo Beriti.
